Dhaka University, July 14 -- A student of Dhaka University (DU) allegedly committed suicide jumping off of a dormitory early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sanju Baraik, a resident of Jagannath Hall and a student of Anthropology Department of 2020-2021 session. He hailed from Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district.

Hall Provost Debashish Pal said that the student entered the hall through the east gate at 4:01am and took the lift of Rabindra Bhavan to go to the roof of the building.

At 5:30am, he jumped towards the road on the west side of the building near the pond, he said after seeing the CCTV footage.
