Dhaka, June 24 -- A drone strike targeted a section of the Taji military base, run by the Iraqi army, located north of Baghdad, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Lieutenant General Walid al-Tamimi, head of Baghdad Operations Command, informed Iraq's state news agency INA that an unidentified drone carried out the strike inside the base.

He stated that the incident caused no casualties and mentioned that more details will be provided later.

Meanwhile, some local media outlets reported that the drone strike was aimed at a French-made radar system deployed at the site.

The Taji base, previously used by the US-led international coalition, was handed over to Iraqi forces in 2020.
