Dhaka, Sept. 5 -- Dhaka has ranked third worst liveable city in the Global Liveability Index 2019 while Vienna of Austria the finest liveable city in the world.

The index placed war-torn Syrian capital Damascus and Lagos to the least liveable cities.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) publishes an annual Global Liveability Ranking, which ranks 140 cities of the world assessing urban quality of life based on stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Bangladesh's capital made a slight progress and went up one notch up as it ranked at the second least liveable city in 2018.

Dhaka as the 138th of 140 received an overall rating of 39.2 (100-ideal) in 2019 index.
