, Sept. 1 -- Stock indices in Dhaka and Chattogram bourses moved upward during the first half of Monday's trading, driven by gains in most listed companies.

On the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index gained 20 points in the first two hours of trading, while the Shariah-based DSES rose 7 points and the blue-chip DS30 index advanced 3 points.

Of the issues traded, 172 gained, 158 declined, and 66 remained unchanged.

The turnover on the DSE stood at over Tk 550 crore during the first half of the session.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also witnessed a rise, with its overall index gaining 72 points.

Out of 150 issues traded, prices increased for 61, declined for 74, and remained unchanged for 15.
