Cumilla, July 19 -- Rail communications between Dhaka and Chattogram remained suspended as the engine of a train derailed at Rasulpur Rail Station in Sadar upazila of Cumilla district on Saturday.

Liakat Ali Majumdar, deputy assistant engineer of Railway Cumilla zone, said the engine of the Chattogram-bound 'Paharika Express' train from Sylhet veered off the tracks around 5:30pm at the outer signal of Rasulpur Rail Station, halting train movement.

A relief train from Laksham left for the spot to salvage the derailed engine.

However, no casualty was reported till the filling of this report.

A number of commuters faced difficulties to reach their destinations due to the derailment.
