, Aug. 14 -- The death toll from flash floods in a remote mountain village in Indian-administered Kashmir has climbed to at least 32, officials said Thursday. The flooding, caused by intense rainfall, swept through the Himalayan village of Chosoti in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district.

According to top disaster management official Mohammed Irshad, rescue teams have managed to bring around 100 people to safety, but at least 50 others remain unaccounted for. The area, which lies on the route of an annual Hindu pilgrimage, has been severely affected, and several pilgrims are believed to be among those impacted.
