, Feb. 17 -- A couple was killed and their 14-year-old daughter suffered injuries after a pickup van hit them in the capital's Jatrabari area on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Jabbar,45,his wife Runa Khanom, 38, of Mohammadpur village in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur district.

The speeding pickup van knocked down the trio when they were crossing the road opposite Saddam Market, leaving the couple dead on the spot and their daughter injured, said Mahmudul Hasan Irfan, sub-inspector (SI) at Jatrabari Police Station.

Injured Jui Akhter was rescued and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
