Chattogram, Aug. 21 -- A police officer is being praised for protecting a newborn from dogs in the port city on early Tuesday.

Sub-Inspector Mostafizur Rahman and tales of his selfless act went viral on the social media within hours.

He said he was standing in front of Akteruzzaman Centre near the end of his night shift when he saw two dogs fighting in front of Sonali Bank while another was pulling something.

"I approached to see what it was and found a newborn," Rahman, posted at Double Mooring Police Station, said.

The child was taken to Agrabad Mother and Child Hospital. Later, it was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
