Being, April 29 -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on BRICS nations to take a leading role in promoting global peace and development.

Emphasising their growing influence, he said BRICS should act as a stabilising force in an increasingly turbulent world.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party came up with the remarks while attending the first -stage meeting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira chaired the meeting, and all parties discussed the role of BRICS countries in promoting peace and security.
