Tangail, Sept. 24 -- A child drowned while another went missing in the Louhajang River in Tangail town on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident took place near the Stadium Bridge area of West Akur Takur.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 8, son of Shafiqul of the area.

The missing child is Adib, 10, son of Abdul Karim of the same neighborhood.

According to the locals, three children went fishing in the river as usual around 1:30pm.

After fishing, they went into the water to bathe and suddenly, two of them drowned.

On information, a diving team of the Fire Service launched a rescue operation with the help of locals.

Around 3:30pm, they recovered the body of Mehedi Hasan.

However, Adib remained missing.
