Barguna, Feb. 4 -- A case has been filed against 22 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League, under the Special Powers Act for allegedly holding secret meetings and distributing leaflets in Barguna with the intent to disrupt law and order.

Besides, police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case.

Barguna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said that the accused, all linked to the Awami League's organizational units, were attempting to create unrest by distributing leaflets in the town.

"We were able to arrest four of them immediately and efforts are ongoing to arrest the others," the OC said.
