, Sept. 24 -- Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the death of firefighter Shamim Ahmed (42), who was critically burned in a chemical warehouse fire in Tongi, Gazipur.
In a condolence message on Tuesday, the Chief Adviser prayed for the eternal peace of Shamim Ahmed's soul and expressed sympathy to his grieving family.
He also wished for the speedy recovery of four other firefighters and a local youth who are still receiving treatment in hospital after being burned in the same incident.
"Firefighters risk their lives to save others. The example set by Shamim Ahmed will inspire others. The nation will remember their bravery with gratitude," the Chief Adviser said.
