Jhalakathi, July 9 -- Bus services on 18 routes in south-western region resumed on Tuesday after conflicts among bus owners' associations of Jhalakathi, Pirojpur and Barishal were resolved after 23 days.

The dispute was settled at a meeting on Monday night conducted by Barishal Divisional Deputy Commissioner Ramchandra Das.

Buses resumed operations in the morning, ending the immense suffering of the people.

The conflict started when workers a driver of Jhalakathi Bus Owners' Association was assaulted after he declined to give excessive fee at Rupatoli bus terminal on June 16.

Protesting against the assault, the Jhalakathi Bus Owners' Association suspended services on 18 routes.
