Dhaka, July 16 -- Two major developments this week underscore the ongoing decline of broadcast television as streaming platforms continue to dominate the media landscape.

In June, Americans spent more time on streaming services than on both broadcast and cable TV combined - marking a significant turning point, Nielsen reported Tuesday. While streaming first edged out traditional TV in May by a slim margin, the gap widened notably last month.

Streaming accounted for 46% of total TV viewing time in June, led by platforms like YouTube and Netflix. Cable represented 23.4%, and broadcast dropped to 18.5% - its lowest share ever.
