, Sept. 17 -- At least six people were reportedly injured in a clash between two rival factions of the BNP in Savar's Ashulia on Wednesday evening, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the clash took place in the Mozarmil area near the British American Tobacco factory.

The clash erupted over the filling of a low-lying area with sand near the factory.

The two groups involved were led by Jahangir Mandal, former joint general secretary of Dhaka District Jubo Dal, and Zahir, former assistant organising secretary of Dhamsona Union BNP.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, but their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
