Chattogram, Aug. 30 -- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday accused the BNP of trying to manipulate the Rohingya issue politically.
He came up with the accusation while addressing a discussion at Dampara Police Lines on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
"The BNP doesn't want the Rohingyas to go back to [their homeland in Rakhine State in] Myanmar," he said. "Their motive is to do politics with Rohingya issue."
Bangladesh is currently hosting over 1.1 million Rohingyas. Most of them came here after Aug 25, 2017 when the Myanmar military launched a brutal offensive targeting the mainly-Muslim ethnic minority.
