, Sept. 7 -- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other contraband items worth Tk 177.21 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, especially in bordering areas in the month of August.

During this period, the paramilitary force seized 13.440 kgs of gold, 18.730 kgs of silver, 4,41,172 cosmetics, 41,331 pieces of Imitation jewelry, 8,739 sarees, 4,903 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 3,977 pieces of readymade garments, 9,603 meter of clothes, 14,01,513 fireworks, 4,546 cft timber, 2,194 kgs of tea leaves, 7,321 kgs of beetle nuts, 1,376 kgs of fertilizers, 45,550 kgs of coal, 53,545 kgs of cotton/nets, 865 mobile phone sets, 6,707 mobile display, 20,104 glasses, 7,220 pieces o...
