, Oct. 12 -- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other contraband items worth Tk 171.60 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, especially in bordering areas in the month of September.

During this period, the paramilitary force seized 6.356 kgs of gold, 1.650 kgs of silver, 3,91,793 cosmetics, 2,952 pieces of Imitation jewelry, 9,248 sarees, 13,558 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 11,461 pieces of readymade garments, 1,286 meter of clothes, 13,61,276 fireworks, 4,202 cft timber, 2,035 kgs of tea leaves, 11,377 kgs of betel nuts, 13,276 kgs of fertilizers, 81,780 kgs of coal, 735 cubic feet stone, 4,630 cubic feet of sand, 6,349 kgs of cotton/nets, 379 mobile phone sets, 3,...
