Lalmonirhat, Nov. 28 -- Teesta Battalion) has urged the media and local residents of Lalmonirhat to help prevent rumours and smuggling along the district's border areas, stressing that community cooperation is vital for strengthening border security.

Brigadier General ASM Naser, Region Commander of the North-West Region (BGB), made the request at the inauguration ceremony of the new Chaturbari BOP camp in Patgram upazila on Thursday.

Commander Naser said some groups are spreading rumours and creating confusion at the border.

He, however, appreciated the media's role in countering such misinformation and requested continued support in preventing false news in the future.
