Sylhet, April 16 -- An activist of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was stabbed to death during a factional clash in Sylhet city on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Tushar Ahmed Chowdhury, 21, son of advocate Sajed Ahmed Chowdhury of Bashundhara residential area of Roynagar in the city.

He was the follower of the city unit of Awami League joint general secretary Bidhan Kumar Saha.

Locals said two groups of the banned BCL got locked into an altercation over an internal issue in the Daldali Tea Garden area of Shahi Eidgaon in the city around 10pm.
