Lalmonirhat, March 29 -- A Bangladeshi man was severely injured in an attack by several Indian nationals in Dulali area of Lohakuchi border under Goral Union in Kaliganj Upazila of Lalmonirhat district over a fishing dispute on Saturday.
The victim, Madab Chandra (40), was hospitalised following the assault.
Locals said Madab Chandra, a resident of Lohakuchi and son of the late Madan Mohan, had gone to the Malda River at the Lohakuchi border where he had set up a tepai-a bamboo fishing trap.
Locals alleged Indian nationals frequently stole fish from this trap.
When Madab protested against such theft on Saturday morning, a group of Indian citizens attacked him, leaving him unconscious.
