Dhaka, June 28 -- In a global first, Bangladesh is set to incorporate data classification into its Personal Data Protection Law, said Faez Ahmad Tayeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

He made the remarks while addressing a seminar titled "Trends of Disinformation in Bangladesh's Media", organised by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) on Saturday.

Tayeb said that data components used to identify individuals will be classified separately. The goal is to ensure that Personal Identification Information (PII) is stored within the country, preventing it from being transferred abroad.
