Dhaka, May 6 -- - The government has announced a 10-day holiday from 5 June to 14 June on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, allowing holidaymakers to enjoy an extended break.

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the decision in a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

As part of the plan, government offices will remain closed for the extended holiday but will open on Saturdays-May 17 and May 24-to compensate for the time off.

The decision was finalised during a meeting of the Advisory Council held at the Secretariat on Tuesday with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair.

Earlier this year, the government declared a nine-day holiday from March 28 to April 5 for Eid-ul-Fitr.
