Dhaka, July 24 -- Bangladesh Bank has withdrawn a recently issued dress code notice for its employees following widespread criticism and media coverage.

Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson and Executive Director, said no policy decision was taken in this regard and no circular was issued.

"When the internal matter came to the notice of the governor, who is currently abroad, through media reports he expressed his anger and then the notice was withdrawn as per his instruction," he added.

He said the idea came during departmental discussions where it was suggested that employees be advised to wear professional attire in keeping with social norms.
