Dhaka, April 14 -- Bangla Academy welcomed the Bangla New Year 1432 on Monday with a series of programmes at its Nazrul Mancha premises in the capital.
The day's festivities began at 8 am with a musical performance to welcome the New Year, followed by a commemorative lecture at 8:15 am and a cultural event at 9 am.
Professor Mohammad Azam, director general of Bangla Academy, delivered the welcome speech. The New Year lecture, titled 'The Test of Faith in the Conjunction of Nationalist Conflicts and the Bangla Year', was presented by Faruk Wasif, director general of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB). The event was presided over by Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, president of Bangla Academy.
