Dhaka, March 16 -- An army person was killed, and three others suffered serious injuries after a speeding bus hit their van on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in the Sauder Khal area of Gournadi upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mujibar, the son of the late Keramat Ali, from Katakasthal village in Gournadi upazila. He was a retired army member.

Md. Bipul Hossain, station officer at Gournadi Fire Service and Civil Defense, said that a Dhaka-bound Labiba Paribahan bus was crossing the Sauder Khal area of Gournadi upazila on the highway when it struck a battery-powered passenger van from behind, leaving four passengers seriously injured.
