Gazipur, Feb. 12 -- eight people, suspected to be leaders and activists of Awami League, have been arrested in Gazipur on the fourth day of ongoing 'Operation Devil Hunt.'

The latest drive brought to 309 the number of people so far arrested from both Gazipur city and the district.

Of them, 80, 100, and 81 were arrested on the first, second and third day respectively.

According to police, Tuesday night's arrests included eight people from five police stations in Gazipur district and 40 from the metropolitan area.

Deputy Commissioner of City Special Branch Alamgir Hossain said they arrested 40 accused from different areas under the city overnight.
