Dhaka, March 30 -- The government has taken all necessary security measures to ensure the safety of devotees attending the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah.

"We've made all kinds of security preparations so that the city dwellers can participate in the Eid congregation in a festive and safe environment," Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said while speaking to journalists after visiting the National Eidgah ground on Sunday noon.

He said that about 35,000 people will attend the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah. Many eminent and distinguished individuals also come here. "We have taken all the necessary measures to ensure their security."
