Dhaka, April 15 -- Police have arrested an Awami League leader from Karwan Bazar area of the capital in connection with the 2015 attack on the motorcade of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

AL leader Saimon was arrested Karwan Bazar area on Monday evening. He will be produced before the court on Tuesday in a case filed over the attack and attempted murder, said Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mobarak Hossain.

Earlier, on April 6, police arrested Sabbir Hossain, general secretary of the Awami League's Motijheel unit, in the same case.
