Barguna, Feb. 16 -- The local office of the Bangladesh Awami League was reopened in Betagi Upazila of Barguna on Monday, around 18 months after its activities were declared banned.

The office, located at Betagi Bazar, was unlocked around noon by leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, witnesses said.

The reopening was carried out under the supervision of former Chhatra League joint general secretary Asaduzzaman Nadim.
