, Sept. 17 -- Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against seven former government officials, including ex-Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md. Tohidul Anwar Chowdhury, over alleged state losses of nearly Tk 598 crore caused by the purchase of ineffective and unsuitable DEMU trains.
On Tuesday, ACC Assistant Director Raju Ahmed lodged the case at the commission's Integrated District Office in Dhaka, an ACC senior official confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday.
According to the case statement, the accused colluded in fraud and forgery while in office. The project was approved without conducting a proper feasibility study or viability assessment.
