, June 15 -- Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a probe into construction of residential buildings for government officials on land originally acquired for people displaced by the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project.

An enforcement team of the ACC conducted a drive at the office of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority in the capital's Banani area on Sunday in connection with the allegations, said a press release.

According to the ACC, under the 'Support to Dhaka Elevated Expressway PPP Project,' around 40 acres of land were acquired to build a rehabilitation village for those affected by the mega infrastructure project.

As part of the plan, 1,344 flats were constructed in 12 buildings for the affected families.
