, March 23 -- A Kushtia court on Sunday sentenced nine people to life term imprisonment for killing a local leader of Awami League and former UP Chairman Lutfur Rahman Sabu in 2017.

Kushtia District and Session Judge Sumaiya Khanam handed down the punishment.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default to six months more in rigorous imprisonment.

The lifers are- Mashiur Rahman Milon, former chairman of Ambaria Union and son of Mahabubul Haque Bulu, Jashim Uddin, son of Julmat Ali, Ekhlas Ali, son of Ilias Ali, Murad Ali, son of Billal Hossain, Mahabul Hossain, son of Ashan Ali, Rashedul Ali, son of Babar Ali, Wasim Ali, son of Rabiul Islam, Rafiqul Islam, son of Moslem Mandal and Helal Uddin, son of Nazrul Islam of Mirpur upaz...
