, Feb. 6 -- A Naogaon court has convicted five people and sentenced them to life imprisonment for killing a man in Mahadebpur upazila of Naogaon district in 2007.

Naogaon Additional District and Session Judge Ferdous Wahid handed down the punishment on Thursday.

The lifers were-Shahidul Islam, 50, son of Tasir Uddin, Abdus Salam, 60, Abul Kalam Azad, 55, Ashraf, 45, son of Abdus Samad, Ibrahim Hossain, 60, son of Subid Ali.

The court also fined Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more in rigorous imprisonment.

The court also acquitted 11 people as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
