Khulna, July 19 -- Five people died while another remains hospitalised in critical condition after reportedly consuming excessive spurious liquor in the Boyra Puja Khola Islamia College area under Sonadanga Model Police Station in Khulna on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Babu, 50, son of Abdur Rob from Boyra Serer Bazar; Sabu, 60, son of Abdus Samad from Boyra Madhyapara; Gautam Kumar Biswas, 47; Ajibar, 59; and Tota, 60 - all residents of Boyra Junction Road area.
