Dhaka, July 30 -- A total of 33 robberies, 248 muggings, 121 murders, and 1,068 thefts were reported in 50 police stations across the capital from January to June this year, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statistics.

DMP"s DC (Media) Mohammad Talebur Rahman revealed the figures at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Tuesday.

He said the DMP believes that the overall law and order situation in the capital remains stable.

Urging city residents to abide by the law, the police official said, "Do not take the law into your own hands. Please assist the police by providing information about criminals. The DMP is sincerely working round the clock for your safety and secure movement."
