Dhaka, Aug. 18 -- A total of 27,637 new appointments have been made across various law enforcement and security forces since the current government assumed office, said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday.

He was speaking to reporters following a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order held at the Secretariat on Monday.

"You often say no recruitment is taking place in the law and order forces. I'm giving you the statistics - so far, 15,851 new appointments have been made in the police, none of which are from the cadre service," the adviser said.

He further informed that 4,469 appointments have been made in the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), 5,551 in Ansar, 1,558 in the Prisons Di...
