, Oct. 22 -- A Mymensingh court on Wednesday convicted two siblings and sentenced them to death for killing a man over selling gold in 2022.

The condemned convicts are-Elbert Debit Rocky, 25, and Elbert Debit Sentu, 40-two sons of Elbert Debit Badal of Gouripur upazila of the district. They were tried in absentia.

Mymensingh District and Session Judge Farhana Ferdous handed down the punishment.

According to the prosecution, Rocky went to sell gold to Tipu Sultan, owner of a Tipu Sultan Jewelers at Patbazar in Gouripur upazila on September 13, 2022.

At one stage, Rocky had an altercation with Tipu over the price of the gold. He later called his brother Sentu at the spot.
