, July 13 -- Two people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw at Ghuntighar in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Banu Mia, 30, driver of the auto-rickshaw and Anika, 12 of Raiganj area.

The drum truck hit the Bhurungamari-bound auto-rickshaw from Sonahat at noon, leaving Anika dead on the spot and four others injured, said Al Helal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari police station.

The injured were taken to the Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex where the auto-rickshaw driver succumbed to his injuries.
