Benapole, March 23 -- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two suspected gold smugglers along with seven gold bars at Koyra village in Sharsha upazila of the district on Friday night.

The arrestees are-Moniruzzaman, son of Abdul Hamid of Bagadanga village and Abul Khayer, son of Abdul Khaleq of Dorki village in Kolaroa upazila in Satkhira district.

Imran Ullah Sarker, commanding officer of BGB-21 battalion, said that on information that a consignment of gold bar was being smuggled to India, a team of BGB conducted the drive and arrested the duo from Koyra border along with the gold bars worth Tk 6.95 lakh.

A case was filed.
