Bagerhat, July 24 -- foot-long python weighing 15 kg was rescued from a haystack in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat and later released into the Sundarbans on Thursday.

The snake was found in the haystack of one Fariz Mistri's house in a village under Dakshin union, near the Sundarbans.

Members of WildTeam and the Village Tiger Response Team (VTRT) safely rescued the python and handed it over to the Forest Department.

WildTeam's Sharankhola field facilitator Md Alam Hawlader said the python entered the locality from the Sundarbans and ate several chickens before hiding in a haystack.
