Dhaka, Sept. 4 -- Three persons reportedly died of dengue in the last 24 hours as the government confirmed 783 new cases across the country, showing a slight improvement in the situation.

In Jashore, an elderly man died of dengue at a private hospital in the morning. Shajahan Ali, 70, was a resident of Bhangura village of Bagherpara upazila.

He was admitted to Jessore General Hospital with dengue on Aug 30, said Dr Obaidul Quader of the hospital.

They referred him to Dhaka for better treatment but his family took him to a private hospital in the town, he added.

Jashore Civil Surgeon Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said Shajahan died of dengue at Queens Hospital around 10:30am.
