Mumbai, April 12 -- Domestic auto sales data, released by the Society Of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), indicate a struggling yet, resilient demand for automobiles in India.

Passenger vehicle sales had a 2.24 percent drop to 2,711,457 units in FY 20-21 against 2,773,519 units in FY19-20.

The commercial vehicle segment saw a decline of

20.77 percent to 568,559 units y-o-y. Three-wheeler sales plunged by 66 percent to 216,197 units in FY 20-21. In FY19-20, the segment had sales of 637,065 units. Two-wheeler sales decreased by over 13 percent to 15,119,387 units y-o-y.

Vehicle sales across categories declined by 13.6 per cent to 1,86,15,588 units, as against 2,15,45,551 units in the year-ago period.
