Dhaka, Aug. 27 -- Bangladesh's interim government chief, Muhammad Yunus, has renewed his push to revive the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), which has remained in limbo since the 2016 Pakistan-sponsored Uri terror attacks that killed 17 Indian soldiers.

During his meeting with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar late last week, Yunus once again stressed the need to strengthen not only bilateral ties but also regional cooperation with Islamabad. At the heart of his push for stronger regional engagement is Yunus's renewed drive to get SAARC up and running.
