India, July 30 -- Indian-origin filmmaker Gurinder Chadha has officially confirmed that a sequel to her iconic 2002 film 'Bend It Like Beckham' is in development. Chadha shared her excitement about returning to the beloved story that broke new ground in sports cinema and representation.

Speaking to Deadline, the filmmaker said, "I'm excited to revisit the original characters and revive the enduring story and build on the legacy we helped to create for the women's game."
