New Delhi, July 24 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the commencement of the election process for the Office of the Vice President after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post. Dhankhar tendered his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu on July 21, citing health concerns.
The ECI said in a statement that it is, under Article 324, "mandated" to conduct the election to the office of the Vice President of India. "Accordingly, the Election Commission of India has already started the preparations relating to the Vice-Presidential Elections, 2025.
