New Delhi, Dec. 4 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar underscored India's commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad, revealing the scale of evacuations carried out since the outbreak of global conflicts.

Speaking at India's World Annual Conclave 2025, he said, "In the last three years, and I'm talking after Ukraine, roughly we brought back 20,000 people. In the last three years, we've actually brought back 28,000 people from different conflict zones."

Emphasizing that India cannot remain passive when crises erupt, Jaishankar added, "For a country with millions working abroad, we cannot afford to be impassive or agnostic if there's a conflict. The moment we see a conflict, our systems get ready to secure our people."
