Chandigarh, July 29 -- The Punjab Transport Department on Tuesday undertook a special state-wide drive by checking as many as 186 buses, to ascertain adherence of health protocols by over 3500 passengers travelling through these buses.

The drive which covered both government and private buses was conducted by Sub Divisional Magistrates across the state, an official spokesperson disclosed adding that only 96 passengers were found not wearing masks and were challaned on the spot.

Expressing satisfaction at most people observing health and travel advisories, State Transport Minister Razia Sultana lauded them for complementing state efforts to counter and control Covid 19 at the earliest.
