CHANDIGARH, Jan. 31 -- THOUSANDS acres of land in south-western districts of the state, affected by salinity and waterlogging, is now proving boon for farmers due to the strenuous efforts of Punjab government.

Disclosing this here on Friday, Punjab Rural Development and Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that it was very difficult to cultivate any crop in such areas due to salinity but with the sustained efforts of the Fisheries department, the salinity- affected waterlogged land has now emerged congenial for shrimp culture.
