Chandigarh, July 29 -- The Shiromani Akali Dal has strongly opposed slashing of cellphone allowance of the employees by the Punjab Government and said that it is squeezing employees to fill its empty coffers.

In a statement, SAD Treasurer and spokesman NK Sharma said that the Punjab government was trying to burden people, particularly government employees, to fill its empty coffers to give mega facilities to its ministers.

He said that the SAD-BJP government had started cell phone allowance for 3,15,649 employees in 2011 to help them out but the Congress government had now slashed this allowance for all Class A, B, C and D categories of employees.
